05Industry Terminology Dictionary
Standard definitions for terms used across GFS systems, documents, and communications. When in doubt, use the abbreviation on first reference followed by the full term in parentheses.

07Capitalization & Punctuation
Title Case for Headings
Capitalize the first letter of every major word in headings, navigation labels, and page titles. Do not capitalize articles (a, an, the), conjunctions (and, but, or), or prepositions under 4 letters unless they begin the heading.

Sentence Case for Body Text
Body text, descriptions, helper text, and tooltips use standard sentence capitalization. Only the first word and proper nouns are capitalized.

ALL CAPS for Labels and Badges Only
Uppercase is reserved for system labels, status badges, column headers, and monospaced metadata. Never use ALL CAPS in body text, headings, or conversational UI.

Em Dash for Breaks
Use an em dash (—) with no surrounding spaces to break a sentence for emphasis or to introduce a related clause. Use an en dash (–) for ranges. Never use a double hyphen (--).

Smart Quotes in Prose, Straight in Code
Use curly/smart quotes (“ ”) in body text, documents, and marketing. Use straight quotes (" ") in code, data fields, and system messages.

No Period After Headings or Labels
Headings, subheadings, button labels, navigation items, and table headers never end with a period. Tooltips and helper text get periods only if they are complete sentences.

Updated Cold Storage Entry Procedures — Effective May 25, 2026
Effective May 25, 2026, we are implementing updated procedures for cold storage entry at the Edgewood facility. These changes are based on recommendations from our Q1 safety audit and align with OSHA cold stress prevention guidelines.
Key Changes
1. Buddy System Required. All entries into cold storage (≤ 0°F) require a minimum of two people. Solo entry is no longer permitted under any circumstances.
2. Maximum Continuous Exposure. Time limit reduced from 90 minutes to 60 minutes per entry. A mandatory 10-minute warm-up break is required before re-entry.
3. Entry Log. All cold storage entries must be logged on the digital sign-in tablet at the freezer entrance. Log captures employee name, entry time, and expected exit time.
4. PPE Check. Supervisors will conduct a visual PPE check before each entry. Required: insulated coveralls, insulated gloves, face protection, and steel-toe insulated boots.
